Yes! Our fetal doppler is completely safe and non-invasive, designed specifically for home use during pregnancy.

Most people start hearing a heartbeat with the doppler between 10–12 weeks of pregnancy, although some may detect it as early as 8–9 weeks. Every pregnancy is different, so if you try early and can’t hear it yet, don’t worry, it may simply be too soon. Waiting until around 12 weeks usually provides the most consistent and reliable results.

For best results, use plenty of ultrasound gel, move the probe slowly, and position it low near your pelvic bone.

How do I use the BellyCove™ Doppler?

1. Apply gel or a suitable alternative
Use a small amount of Parker Labs Aquasonic ultrasound gel or a substitute (like aloe vera gel, baby oil, or olive oil) and apply it to your lower abdomen. Just below the belly button is typically most effective early in pregnancy.

2. Turn on the doppler
Power on the device and place the probe directly onto the area where the gel was applied.

3. Scan slowly and gently
Move the probe slowly and gently, tilting it slightly at different angles as needed. A slow scanning motion helps avoid missing the heartbeat.

4. Listen for the sound
Once the doppler locates the heartbeat, you’ll hear a steady, rhythmic sound, often described as similar to a galloping horse.

5. Clean after use
Wipe off any remaining gel or oil from both your skin and the probe using a soft, clean cloth.

Note:
In early pregnancy (before 12–14 weeks), it may take longer to detect the heartbeat. This is completely normal and varies from person to person. For best results, stay patient and move the probe slowly while adjusting the angle as needed.

Our doppler is safe for daily use if needed, but we recommend using it in moderation to keep the experience special and avoid unnecessary stress if the heartbeat isn’t immediately found.
